Stephen W. Garber, Ph.D.

Dr. Stephen Garber was the founder of the Behavioral Institute of Atlanta and a Licensed Psychologist.  He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his masters and doctoral degrees in psychology from Georgia State University.  He practiced psychology for over forty years.

Dr. Garber specialized in the evaluation and treatment of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and behavioral and learning disorders of children, adolescents, and adults.  He also treated anxiety disorders and phobias across the age span and had a special interest in parenting training and education. 

​

Prior to going into practice, Dr. Garber was director of Child and Adolescent Services at South Central Fulton County Mental Health Center and the Southside Health Center.  He served as Chair of the Division of Licensed Psychologists of the Georgia Psychological Association and was a member of the Georgia Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Association of Behavior Therapists.

 

Dr. Garber co-authored a number of books including Beyond Ritalin, Is Your Child Hyperactive?Monsters Under The Bed and Other Childhood Fears, and Good Behavior as well as articles in professional journals.

Dr. Stephen Garber is married to Dr. Marianne Garber and is a devoted father and grandfather. ​
